There are several Club Leagues, Public and Private courts and clubs not to mention communities offering tennis courts. The Space Coast Tennis League is just one of the many leagues in the area.
The best part is whether you are new to tennis, or if it is an old "love" Florida is the place let the aces and lobs fly.
Aquarina Beach and Country Club located on the Barrier Island between the Indian River Lagoon, which leads to the Intracoastal Waterway, and the Atlantic Ocean. The community has a Boat ramp and boat storage area available to residents. The location is a perfect spot if you want to spend an easy day of paddling in a kayak around Latham Island and Mullet Creek – which is very much a day out of "Old Florida". If you prefer more adventure head out to the Indian River Lagoon to the Intracoastal Waterway and the newly marked channel that leads to the Sebastian Inlet and a day on the Atlantic Ocean. The channel to the ocean can be a bit tricky so be sure to check with seasoned boaters.
The Indian River Lagoon is home to over 3,000 different species. Image the beauty of seeing manatees laze along the water, the dolphins dancing, and maybe even catch a glimpse of a turtle.
Walking along the pristine beaches in Brevard County is just steps from any home in Aquarina Beach and Country Club at the deeded ocean access with private parking for the residences. In the early 1700's a Spanish Treasure Fleet shipwrecked along the coast leaving behind buried treasure - a visit to McLarty Museum located just south in Vero Beach provides a look back in time. Bits of treasure are still found in the buried in the sand - just ask any treasure enthusiast. There is more than buried treasure along the shores of Southern Brevard County. During the months of March to September, you can find Sea Turtles nesting along the shores. The Loggerhead, Green Turtle, and on rare occasion the Leatherbacks all call the south beaches home. It is an awesome sight to witness one of nature's creatures, and with the efforts of Archie Carr National Wildlife Refuge, the turtles continue a life cycle that has occurred for millions of years.
Located just 4 miles south is Sebastian Beach Inlet - home to "the Capital of East Coast Surfing" where some of the sports top names began - Kelly Slater, the Hobgood and Lopez's brothers, Charlie Kuhn, and Todd Morcom. If surfing is your thing just walk across A1A, where you can catch a wave and be sitting on top of the sun. The beach also offers some of the prettiest shelling, sea bean collecting, sunning, and of course fishing.
The Indian River Lagoon is home to over 3,000 species of fish, marine life, and plant life. Florida's east coast offers excellent adventures in both saltwater and freshwater for the most demanding outdoorsman. Brevard County Fish populations are protected and healthy partly because of their proximity to the Merritt Island Wildlife refuge. The Indian River and Banana River Lagoon are a fishing paradise sprawling across hundreds of square miles of clear shallow water presenting anglers with awesome opportunities to sight fish for their favorite species including redfish, speckled trout and tarpon. Local fishing destinations include the secluded and beautiful Mosquito Lagoon and the mangrove shorelines of the world famous Cocoa Beach "Thousand Islands" that mimic south Florida's everglade fishing. If you enjoy light-tackle fishing, Brevard County holds some of the best flats fishing you can find.
For the adventurous, near shore or offshore trolling, live baiting and sight fishing for shark, cobia, tripletail, Spanish mackerel, dolphin and King Mackerel are just a stone's throw away. Sebastian Inlet and nearby Cape Canaveral allow access to some of the finest deep sea sport fishing available on Florida's East Central, Atlantic coast.
